About us

Mentholatum is a global health and wellness company with a reputation for quality and value based in the UK.

Innovation and research is at the heart of what we do, and as specialists in muscle and joint care we deliver products and campaigns driven by scientific evidence and real consumer needs.

Increasing numbers of people in the UK have Musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions with 4 out of 5 adults experiencing back pain at some point throughout their lives. This has an impact in the workplace, too, with millions of days lost due to back pain each year.

Our vision is to help the nation manage and prevent their back pain,
so we’ve teamed up with industry specialists to deliver a 5-step programme
to help you …. Mind Your Back

We would like to thank our supporters who share our vision of working with the nation to take the 5 S.T.E.P.S. to Mind Your Back. The campaign is supported by a number of industry experts including:

  • "I am a trained physiotherapist and I've taught yoga professionally for seven years. In that time I have worked with many people who suffer from back pain and what always struck me about their conditions was how easily preventable they were.

I'm extremely excited to be part of Mentholatum's Mind Your Back campaign, and it's great to see that someone is finally educating the world about how simple preventative and rehab strategies are."

    Celest Pereira, Physiotherapist &
Yoga Instructor
  • As a hypermobile yogi, for many years I relied on being “flexible” to achieve impressive postures in my practice - until I injured my back. I didn’t know then how much the lower back suffers as it compensates for stiff thoracic mobility, weak core, shortened hip flexors and more. As someone who has struggled with back pain for many years, I am thrilled to be a part of Mentholatum’s Mind Your Back Campaign, in the hopes of helping to educate others on the importance of back care and awareness.

Mariel Witmond-Bateman, Yoga Teacher & Coach
  • As someone who has been teaching yoga for over 15 years, I am all about longevity - how we can be healthy and mobile for longer. I am grateful to be part of Mentholatum’s Mind Your Back Campaign, as our back is an integral part of our ability to remain comfortably mobile as we age.

Tanya Witmond, Yoga Teacher & PT
  • Music and exercise are huge parts of my life, but back pain has taken the rhythm out of both in the past. I think Mentholatum’s Mind Your Back campaign and the five S.T.E.P.S. programme is a great way to draw attention to this issue and introduce back care into people's daily routines - to give people back their rhythm.

Melody Kane, Fitness Coach & DJ
  • As a Pre & Post Natal PT, I have worked with so many women who complain of back pain during and after pregnancy. Our bodies are put through a lot during this time, and so understanding how to help prevent pain and injury is crucial to a healthy and mobile body.

This is why I love the 5 simple steps of Mentholatum's Mind Your Back campaign: effective and easy to follow movements that will encourage mobility in the spine and strengthen your back and core.

I recommend doing these 5 simple steps daily, to all of my clients!

Emily Williams, Pre & Post Natal PT
  • I’ve been a PT for over 11 years and have worked with so many people who suffer from back pain. Our modern lifestyles (too much sitting) isn’t conducive to keeping our backs strong and healthy. It’s not until it’s too late and we are in pain or injured that we decide to do something about it. Prevention is way better than cure and that's why I wholeheartedly support Mentholatum's Mind Your Back campaign and recommend the 5 S.T.E.P.S. to all my clients.

    Holly Active, PT & Author
  • As a mum of 2 young kids (1 and 4 year olds) and having history of back pain, I knew the Mind Your Back campaign was something I really wanted to support. Looking after your back as a parent is so super important, you are constantly carrying and lifting, if mum or/ and dad are out of action then the whole family suffers! I really want people to know how easy it is to take a few minutes each day to do some simple stretches and strengthening exercise that can help. Having a healthy back means I can be a more physical and a happier, hands on parent. Exercise is really key to my mental health and wellness as well. I love using the heat pads on my back if I have any aches or lower back pain, especially if I have to be on the move and have become more conscious of looking after my body and taking time for myself each day.

  • “As a passionate Chartered Physiotherapist with 30 years in clinical practice and 20 years in the media, I have spent a large part of my life talking about the management of back pain and sports injuries.

I was very keen to work with Mentholatum’s Mind Your Back campaign to help people understand how easy it is to prevent back pain in the first place and in the event of an injury, how to help optimise the healing process.”

    Sammy Margo, Physiotherapist
  • I have suffered from back problems in the last 5 years caused by a slipped disc and after being told that rest was the best thing for it , it got worse. For me rest was the complete opposite to what I needed and keeping it mobile and well stretched saw big improvements very quickly. The Mind Your Back campaign will help people mobilise their back with stretch like I did to get me back at work on the farm and training hard for triathlon. The Mind Your Back Campaign is great for me as both the job and sport that I do can end up doing very repetitive movements, so Stretching, Therapy, Exercise, Posture and Strengthening are all things I need to think about and do regularly.

    Adam Magde, Triathlete & Farmer
  • As a personal trainer working with midlife women, I specialise in the peri to post menopause years and healthy ageing. Many of my clients start to develop injuries and joint problems as they get older, alongside back pain. Much of this can be attributed to modern sedentary lifestyles, and a lack of physical activity. So I am delighted to support Mentholatum’s Mind Your Back campaign, which educates, informs and empowers people to promote better back health.

    Jacqueline Hooton, Personal trainer
